ABOUT ME

Claudine Grisel was born in Fleurier, Canton de Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in 1943. She spent the best part of her childhood in a vast garden and in the wilds.

From a cultivated and open-minded background, Claudine discovered Prague, Paris and London thanks to her parents as well as Greece, Etruria and Asia Minor with their friends. However deeply attached to her Jura land, Claudine considers herself a citizen of the world. A native French speaker, Claudine is fluent in German and speaks a little English

Claudine Grisel is the finely-tuned demiurge of a universe of myth that she works and transforms, bringing the dream world to our eyes through the act of transcending light.

After passing her ‘baccalauréat’ and obtaining a teacher’s degree, Claudine became an Art teacher. She is currently teaching at various levels in several institutions in Cantons de Neuchâtel and Argovie. She has also regularly been exhibiting her works since 1973.

Claudine’s inspiration is both 2-dimensional (paintings, collages, etchings, mixed techniques) and 3-dimensional (reinforced plaster or wax sculptures later cast in bronze as well as paper or acryl glue sculptures). She collaborates to the founder’s task by touching up the wax or chiselling the bronze.

Claudine Grisel’s smaller sculptures are works in themselves but can also be seen as small-scale models for 2- to 3-metre-high sculptures.

Claudine has a daughter born in 1984 and is widowed since 2005.

Claudine Grisel, who is as fascinated by psychology and personal development as she is by art, is steadily opening onto the world and progressing towards liberation and light.
